As I look back on my life here, I am truly amazed at the people I’ve met and the experiences I’ve had. Holding an incredible position at Publicis Consultants | PR. There I interviewed lottery winners, worked with CASA to help find safe homes for our nation’s foster youth, worked with a team to win PRSA’s Best-of-Show for NFCM, met dozens of celebrities, pioneered social media campaigns… and let’s not forget my life as a roadie.
I worked with Brian Seitz to form ColdPavement, which just celebrated it’s year anniversary co-meetup with Gizmodo last night. I’ve helped plan a number of events and conferences, including Gnomedex. I’ve served as communications and social media council to small businesses and nonprofits. I’ve been a chair for Puget Sound’s PRSA awards, and a member of the student outreach committee. I’ve been on the board of Seattle’s Alpha Xi Delta alumnae group. I’ve served as a Girl Scout leader. I learned to snowboard (albeit not very well) and I learned to love the outdoors. I’ve volunteered with Seattle Works. I’ve been on the Lake Union Crew team. I’ve made countless friends and had great relationships. I’ve learned. Grown. Evolved.

So why am I leaving and where am I going, you ask? I’ve been given an opportunity that I can’t turn down — a chance to turn my life completely upside-down again and be forced to put it back together. A chance to evolve and grow, and learn more about myself, my industry, and the world that we live in and I couldn’t be more thrilled.
At the beginning of next year, I’ll be taking on a role as a social media and media relations Senior Associate at Digitas in New York. This position will allow me to continue working in the area I love, and a chance to engage with some incredible brands. I think what excites me most about this position is working directly with Justin Newby, someone who I greatly respect and admire, and who I believe will become an incredible a mentor. I am looking forward to learning, and working, with the best.
….Stay tuned, more to come on the job front.
I have to offer huge thanks to my supervisors at Publicis, who reached out to me years ago and have helped me in more ways than I could ever have imagined. They’ve all served as exceptional mentors and great friends, I’m excited to see how they grow in the PR world. Thank you to all of the SMC Seattle folks that have encouraged me to continue to grow. Thank you to Sam (@samewen), Peter (@skydiver), Mona (@mona), Kristy (@kristy), Eric (@weave) and Shannon Paul (@shannonpaul). You’ve all given me such wonderful feedback.
Thank you for my cheerleaders and best friends — Carson, Mary and Carolyn. And of course to my family, who has never once questioned me and supported me unconditionally in each of my crazy adventures, including moving across the country twice.
And of course, thanks to all of you for your support. I can’t tell you how much your encouragement and conversations have meant to me. Thank you!
…the public market’s clock has spoken! Time to leap, I look forward to seeing you all when I land.

I am not a fan of you leaving Seattle. But that is the selfish me.
The unselfish me is excited for you. Excited for the opportunity you’ve courageously jumped on. Excited for what lays around the next corner for you. Excited to hear about all of the adventures you are bound to go on. Excited to have a place to crash in NYC.
You will do great lady!! Keep being you and you’re bound to win over NY as you did Seattle!

Wow! Big Congratulations and best of luck in your new adventure, Jessica, I know you will do incredible things.
Seattle will miss you, but you know where to find us… on Twitter =)
Wow, congrats!
Fortunately for everyone, you’ll never be further than the distance of the keyboard and the screen. Congrats on the new job and the new city, it suits you.
From the West Coast to the East Coast…you WILL be missed in Seattle! But congrats on the job and the chance to continue to grow!
Wow, congrats! That’s so exciting and amazing. You’ll just adore NYC. Get HopStop on your iPhone if you don’t already. It saved my life when I lived there. I never did actually learn the subways.
I’m sorry we didn’t get to know each other better in Seattle — you’re clearly a very awesome, smart chick, and I enjoy collecting those in my life — but I’m sure our paths will cross again at some point. If not, we’ll always have Twitter.
All the best of luck and happiness to you!
Best of luck at the new job! Hope you’re already loving NY
I’m sure I’ll be back there to visit at some point, so keep in touch.
Keep blogging. You have a good knack for it. Good luck in the Big Apple. Be aggressive but with a sweet smile. Oh, eat at Katz’s deli too. I love that place.
